• Forest Health
• Cumulative Impacts
• Freshwater Systems
• Energy Policy
• Human Health

Interests

Primarily an environmental scientist I use multi-disciplinary science-based approaches to understand and resolve complex problems between humans and their environments. Through the Sustainable Forest Management Research Group (SFMRG) I was part of a team that assessed the cumulative impacts of development in Northeast British Columbia from a First Nations’ Perspective. My focus was air pollution: from policy to source, emissions, dispersion and impacts (environmental, social, forest health, human health, freshwater, etc.). I continue to work on these issues in Northeast BC and collaborate with multiple stakeholders seeking to limit and understand the cumulative impacts of oil and gas development in the region.

More recently through SFRMG, I have been involved in research relating to human development pressures and impacts in China and the Asia Pacific Region. Topics include conservation, erosion, water use, and climate change.

I have scientific experience in molecular biology and plant genetics, meteorology and environmental chemistry. I am also interested in farming and the development of new chemical-free agricultural methods that are rooted in the science of natural systems.
